Is the Umarex Colt 45 a Peacemaker revolver or a 1911 semi-automatic pistol?

The Colt .45 designation applies to both styles of airgun in the Umarex lineup. Umarex produces licensed replicas of the historical Colt Peacemaker Single Action Army six-shooter revolver as well as modern 1911-pattern semi-automatic pistols such as the Colt Commander and Colt Defender. The Peacemaker replicates the frontier handgun with an all-metal frame and individual loading cartridges for the cylinder. In contrast, 1911-style models utilize removable magazines and semi-automatic mechanisms. Checking whether a listing specifies a revolving cylinder or a magazine-fed semi-automatic action ensures you select the correct platform for your shooting preference.

Can the Umarex Colt Peacemaker shoot both pellets and steel BBs?

No, Umarex manufactures separate Colt Peacemaker models engineered specifically for either .177 pellets or .177 steel BBs. The pellet-firing Peacemaker uses individual cartridges to fire .177 caliber pellets at velocities up to 380 fps. The BB-firing Peacemaker uses dedicated cartridges to launch .177 caliber steel BBs at speeds up to 410 fps. Mixing steel BBs into a pellet revolver or forcing pellets into BB shells can cause feeding jams, so verify the exact caliber and ammo specification before buying.

Which Umarex Colt models have realistic blowback slide action?

Realistic blowback action is engineered into specific 1911-style semi-automatic air pistols, including the Colt Commander and the Colt M45 CQBP. The Colt Commander features an all-metal frame with realistic blowback action, firing .177 caliber steel BBs at up to 300 fps. The Colt M45 CQBP (part number 2254045) is a 19-shot BB air pistol equipped with a metal slide that cycles with each shot. Western revolvers like the Colt Peacemaker do not feature slide blowback, relying instead on manual hammer-cocking and a rotating cylinder.

How can you tell spare Colt Peacemaker cartridges apart from an actual air pistol listing?

Checking the listed weight, dimensions, and part numbers helps you distinguish accessory shells from complete airguns. Standalone accessory packs, such as the silver six-pack of spare pellet capsules (part number 2254052), weigh 0.18 pounds with package dimensions of 4 inches high, 0.5 inches long, and 2.5 inches wide. A complete all-metal Colt Peacemaker air pistol measures 6 by 12 by 1.75 inches and weighs 2 pounds for the black pellet version or 2.45 pounds for the silver BB version. Confirming these specifications prevents mistakenly ordering replacement capsules instead of a functional gun.

What CO2 power source and capacity does the Colt M45 CQBP use?

The Colt M45 CQBP features a 19-shot magazine for .177 caliber steel BBs and runs on a standard 12-gram CO2 cartridge. The CO2 cartridge is not included in the box. To ensure a proper seal and maintain solid valve performance, Umarex-brand CO2 is specifically recommended for this model. For shooters seeking a realistic CO2 BB gun, the metal slide blowback and high-capacity magazine provide authentic semi-automatic handling.

What is the difference between the Umarex Colt Peacemaker and the Elite Force Legends Smoke Wagon?

The primary distinction between the two Western revolvers is caliber and projectile design. The Umarex Colt Peacemaker is an airgun built for target plinking with .177 caliber steel BBs or .177 pellets loaded into individual metal shells. The Elite Force Legends Smoke Wagon is an airsoft revolver designed specifically for 6mm plastic BBs. While both share traditional Single Action Army aesthetics, their internal chambers and cartridges are not interchangeable, making it essential to match the gun to your intended ammunition type.
