Can you shoot pellets from a BB Umarex Colt Peacemaker?

No. Steel BB and pellet Peacemaker revolvers use dedicated internal assemblies and distinct ammunition setups. The Colt Peacemaker BB gun (model 2254048) is engineered to shoot .177 caliber steel BBs from individual cartridges at up to 410 fps. In comparison, the Colt Peacemaker pellet gun (model 2254051) fires .177 caliber pellets from individual cartridges at up to 380 fps. Loading lead pellets into a smoothbore BB model or using mismatched shells leads to feeding jams and poor performance.

What is the difference between silver and gold Umarex Colt shells?

The shell casing color indicates the exact ammunition type and revolver model compatibility. Silver capsules (part number 2254052) are made specifically for the Colt Peacemaker pellet gun (model 2254051) to seat .177 caliber pellets. Gold capsules (part number 2254049) are built for the Colt Peacemaker BB gun (model 2254048) to hold .177 caliber steel BBs. Matching the casing color to your revolver model ensures proper cylinder rotation and cycling.

Does every Umarex Colt revolver load with individual cartridges?

No. Cylinder mechanics depend on the specific Colt replica design. Single Action Army six-shooter models use six individual metal cartridges loaded one by one through a swinging loading gate for historic handling. Modern double-action replicas, such as the Colt Python .177 caliber BB revolver (model 2254040), utilize a 10-round rotary magazine (part number 2254041). For shooters comparing cylinder types across traditional revolvers and semi-automatic air pistols, our overview of the best CO2 BB gun models details how different feeding mechanisms operate.

How many shots does one 12-gram CO2 capsule yield in a Colt revolver?

Usable shot counts per 12-gram CO2 capsule vary by model, shooting cadence, and ambient temperature, and the manufacturer does not list a uniform shot rating for these revolvers. To avoid seal leaks and protect the piercing assembly, verify the installation instructions in the user manual for your specific Peacemaker or Python model. Never over-tighten the frame piercing screw once you hear the capsule seat, and inspect the valve seal regularly.

Which air pistols share magazines with the Colt Python BB revolver?

The Colt Python 10-shot BB rotary magazine (part number 2254041) fits both the Colt Python .177 caliber BB revolver (model 2254040) and the Umarex Brodax .177 caliber BB revolver air pistol (model 2252109). These 10-round capacity disc magazines do not interchange with the six-chambered Peacemaker series, which relies entirely on individual cartridge casings.

What muzzle velocities do Umarex Colt Peacemaker revolvers achieve?

Velocity depends on whether the Peacemaker is configured for steel BBs or lead pellets. The all-metal Colt Peacemaker BB six-shooter reaches up to 410 fps using .177 caliber steel BBs. The all-metal Colt Peacemaker pellet revolver achieves up to 380 fps using .177 caliber pellets. Always check the model designation on the box or frame to confirm which velocity rating and ammunition match your pistol.
