Does the Umarex NXG APX shoot both pellets and BBs?

Yes. The Umarex NXG APX is designed as a dual-ammunition air gun that fires both .177 caliber pellets and .177 steel BBs. This allows you to shoot standard pellets for accurate paper target practice or load BBs for informal backyard plinking. Always confirm you are feeding .177 ammunition into the rifle, as other calibers will not fit the chamber.

Does this multi-pump rifle require CO2 cartridges or an external hand pump?

No. The Umarex NXG APX operates on an internal, self-contained multi-pump pneumatic system. You never need to buy 12-gram CO2 cartridges or connect a high-pressure 4500 psi hand pump to pressurize the action. Working the rifle's integrated forearm lever builds compression internally, unlike gas-operated models such as a CO2 BB gun that requires disposable cylinders.

What velocity does the Umarex NXG APX reach?

The Umarex NXG APX is rated for a maximum velocity of 800 fps. This 800 fps speed gives the projectile enough zip for reactive plinking and crisp target punch marks. Your actual velocity will vary depending on how many pump strokes you use and the overall grain weight of your chosen .177 pellet or BB.

Is the 4x15mm scope included in the package?

It depends on which specific kit you select. Standard kit bundles explicitly include the 4x15mm scope, while standalone versions ship as a bare youth rifle with basic sights. If you want an optical sight included from the start, check the package contents and title to confirm the 4x15mm optic is part of the bundle.

Is the Umarex NXG APX suitable for youth shooters and beginners?

Yes. Umarex designs the NXG APX specifically as a black synthetic youth air rifle sized for comfortable handling. The variable-pump pneumatic mechanism lets a beginner start with fewer pumps for easy cocking and low-recoil backyard practice before stepping up to higher velocities. That makes handling much simpler for a learner than dealing with the bulk and weight of a full-size tactical air rifle.

How does the NXG APX rifle differ from the Beretta APX air gun?

The NXG APX is a multi-pump pneumatic youth rifle, whereas the Beretta APX is a 20-shot .177 caliber BB pistol featuring blowback action and powered by 12-gram CO2 cartridges. While both carry the APX name in retail catalogs, the pistol relies entirely on disposable gas powerlets rather than manual pump strokes. Verifying whether you are looking at the multi-pump rifle or the blowback pistol prevents ordering unneeded CO2 packs for a pump-action rifle.
